Although the Fuente de los Baños is the symbol of Montanejos, one must not forget that it is only the beginning of a thermal channel that lasts for more than one kilometre in which there are other beautiful bathing areas that you should not miss.

El puente nuevo

The Puente Nuevo (new bridge) bathing area takes its name from the bridge under which it is located, the longest in Montanejos. This bathing area is within the access control as it belongs to the Paraje de la Fuente de Baños. The setting in which it is located is charming, the river forms a bend so it has a wide bank with a shaded area of trees and another of natural grass very close to some picnic areas, which makes it ideal for spending the day with the family. In addition, due to its proximity to the Sports Centre it is also a perfect plan for those who want to cool down after a day of sport.

El Machón

This bathing area takes its name from the breakwater or cutwater next to the path, that part of the bridge on which the arches are supported and which distributes the current to both sides.

This is the last trace of an old bridge that crossed from the village to the farming area known as “El Batán”. It is unknown in which of the numerous floods of the Mijares this bridge was destroyed, but press reports seem to indicate that it was washed away by the great flood of the 4th of September 1882, which also destroyed the two mills and a liquor factory.

Nowadays, as it is one of the closest bathing areas to the village, it is one of the most popular ones, visited frequently by residents of Montanejos. Its long shore, its paved areas and the shallow depth make it ideal for families with small children. Capacity controls are not carried out in this bathing area.

El Molino

The ruins of a 19th century flour mill give their name to this pool, another of the most frequented by residents of Montanejos. Due to its position and depth, it is especially sensitive to floods that deposit mud at the bottom. However, it is one of the most charming bathing areas due to the lush vegetation and the calm waters.

In terms of crowds, it is one of the calmest and chillest bathing areas in Montanejos, which makes it easier to observe the rich fauna that lives on the riverbank in its surroundings. There are no capacity controls carried out here.
